LULU won our Marc's Cutest Pet Contest!

Despite rain late in the afternoon over 3000 people visited Hardesty Park for the annual WAKR/WONE/WQMX /ANN Pet Expo.

Fifty five animal shelters were on hand-74 of the pets were adopted. Fifty-three vendors were also on hand with lots of giveaways and information and food! Supporting the event was FedEx Custom Critical and Marc's.

The Marc's "Cutest Pet" contest had over 70 entries with the following winners:

First place: Lulu sponsored by Paws & Prayers
Second place: Zane owned by Amanda Garner
Third place: Shera owned by Harold Steward
Fourth place: Sheekrer owned by Catherine Uhl

Our judges were Rob Green of Stautzenberger College, Georgette Thomas of One of a Kind Pets, and Sgt. Dale Dorn of the K-9 Unit of the Akron Police Department. Tim Daugherty of WONE and Fox 8's Dick Goddard were master of ceremonies.

I wanted to tell you that the final count of adoptions for Medina County SPCA was 9 animals adopted. We found homes for 3 dogs and 6 kittens. What a success!! Thank you so much for all of your hard work! The event is well-organized and a wonderful opportunity for both shelters and folks who want to adopt a pet. Also, a lot of valuable networking goes on at this event. Stephanie Moore, our executive director was able to meet people from other shelters as well as vendors she will be able to work with. Keep up the good work! Thank you for inviting us.

What a nice event it was on Saturday. Right up until the rain soaked us all, we thought it went great! Thank goodness for the tents. We had a nice reaction from the crowds and some great conversations with attendees. It was so neat to see all the people out with their pets.

This event was AWESOME. I am SO sorry it rained and ended things early but hey, from 10-2ish it was great. I love the set up. It is nice that unloading and getting to your spot is easy. We had a great time and look forward to the next one. We had a lot of interest in some of the fosters we had there so expect some applications. Such a great cause. Thank you so much for inviting us.

Thank you very much for hosting such a wonderful Pet Expo today. It is too bad that the heavens finally opened, but wasn't it nice that it held off til mid-afternoon and no one got blown away?

Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue had a good time....as we usually do, we see some established friends and we make new ones. We don't normally adopt dogs from any venue, for a variety of reasons, but we do meet people who are serious about finding a Labrador, and our group of approved adopters always grows after an event like this.

Thanks for doing it and giving it such a great personal touch as well.
